Feedback is essential to growth. But for many people in healthcare and science, feedback is concentrated in infrequent, high-stakes sessions, and/or delivered in ways which do not foster growth. When the annual review becomes the anxiety-inducing day on which you learn whether you are doing a good job or a not good enough job (according to standards that you may not agree with or even be aware of), then feedback loses its ability to empower and promote positive change. Supervisors, bosses, or managers are infrequently trained on how to give good feedback, but you can be trained on how to solicit the feedback you need, and have an impact on the culture around feedback in your workplaces. Doctors and scientists understand the value of having their performance assessed, but also sometimes carry the negative impact of prior feedback sessions in poor quality or unfair evaluations were the norm.
FEEDBACK That Moves you Forward is a course designed to help doctors and scientists feel more in control about the process of being reviewed, and more equipped to decipher the feedback they receive, so that they gain the insight they need to grow, and can grow to achieve the career goals that matter most to them. This course covers the different types of feedback available for professional development, and how to give and receive feedback in ways which promote healthier and more impactful workplace cultures.
This is a friendly, client-outreaching course designed to de-mystify the process of feedback.
Our motto is that growth-oriented feedback is kind feedback, even when it’s hard.
