Networking is promoted as a key career enhancing activity. Yet, the purpose and skills of networking often are not explained or explored. Networking can be taxing or intimidating, and the directive to “get out there and meet people” overlooks details around skill and strategy.
A flexible vision of networking which accommodates individual personality styles and needs is possible! In this course, we delve into the diverse activities that define networking, including its objectives, strategies, and proper etiquette. We’ll also explore how effective networking aligns with broader goals, such as building meaningful social connections and advancing your career.
Networking for Doctors and Scientists is focused on delivering practical tips that you can put to work immediately. This is not a course about how to become the life of every party. Rather, it is designed to help you intentionally focus your time and energy on events and social opportunities that are high-yield in terms of professional satisfaction and development and to develop strategies for navigating potentially daunting social environments. This is a supportive, engaging course designed to de-mystify and kindly support the process of networking for doctors and scientists at all career stages: we have something for everyone!
